Ram Setu Row

Ram Setu Row
When the Centre told the Supreme Court in September that there was no evidence to prove the existence of characters or events in the Ramayana and the Ram Sethu was not a man-made structure, the Hindu groups objected to it. The political parties seemed to break ranks over the issue. The Sethusamudram shipping canal project in Tamil Nadu, which has been seeing sporadic protests from Hindutva forces, will cost Rs 2500 crore. It was inaugurated by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh two years ago. But Hindu groups feel it would damage the Ram Sethu. They want the structure to be declared a national monument.
