Kiran Bedi Gets 'Raw Deal'

Kiran Bedi Gets 'Raw Deal' August 2, 2007
India's first woman police officer Kiran Bedi decided to quit in November, months after a junior male colleague was chosen ahead of her for Delhi's top police job. Bedi said she had applied for voluntary retirement two years ahead of schedule to pursue academic and social interests. She accused the government of overlooking her because, as a woman, she did not have "booze friends". In the file picture, Kiran Bedi comes out of North Block in New Delhi on August 2, 2007. Delhi's police commissioner YS Dadwal is also seen in the picture (right).
