Writing a new chapter! India saw a historic change of guard in the Presidential palace on July 25. As APJ Abdul Kalam stepped down as India's President, Pratibha Patil stepped in as the first lady to be elected to the position. Although there were last-minute attempts to keep the scientist president in his post for one more term, Kalam refused to file nomination papers if a consensus was not achieved.
