The Book on Frank Buckles: America's Last Doughboy: "I met Frank Woodruff Buckles on a chilly March afternoon in 2007 at his farmhouse in Charles Town, W.Va. He was a mere 106 years old back then.
The last surviving American veteran of World War I lived on nearly four more years. He died Sunday at 110."
